Boyz in the Hill

Nice to get sheep jobs done. The Rams were herded into the barn, had a pedicure, de-wormed and just a good checking over. We have 3 rams, a purebred Katahdin which is a hair sheep bred for meat and sheds his coat, 2 North Country Cheviots which are also a good meat sheep but have wool and need to be sheared. We will need to up our number next year as the flock increases.  We breed 1/3 of our Katahdin ewes to the Katahdin for replacement ewes and the rest to the North Country rams. They have a quicker weight gain and wider back so we can ship the lambs earlier. We chose the NC because they have the same vigor that the Kat lambs have and make a good cross.

Here are the boys and their friend/guardian horse Tripper who is 24 years old.

"Stan" the most even tempered ram ever - 4 years old

"Nevel Jr" NC will be 1 year old in March

"The Boyz"

Stan

"Spook" NC 2 years old in March

Growing boys like to eat

Trip says Thank heavens they left!

Crap, have to share again!
